And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you] (Romans 12:2) AMP.
For those whom He foreknew [and loved and chose beforehand], He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son [and ultimately share in His complete sanctification], so that He would be the firstborn [the most beloved and honored] among many believers (Romans 8:29) AMP.
Once a person is born again, God is not finished with him; He is just beginning. After the new birth, the person is turned over to the Holy Spirit for transformation. The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to transform us. Our souls need to be saved and the soul is often defined as the mind, the will and the emotions and all of them need salvation. It is for this reason that the renewing of the mind is of essence to us and in this area the word of God is the right tool. Transformation is and has been the plan of God since the beginning according to the above verse in Romans 8:29. It is the most important aspect of Christian life. It is not just important for our own growth and development; it also gives God the opportunity to introduce us to a higher, more meaningful and deeper understanding of our relationship with Him. The process of transformation involves graduating from one dimension of living to a superior one and from one level of experience to a higher one through acquisition of new information which can only be acquired through the word of God.
This therefore means that our diet as kingdom children must change. If we must be transformed, we must deliberately choose what we eat. The enemy is always ready to feed us with his diet which to our eyes looks more appealing and juicy but we have the power to choose. Just like Daniel, we can decide that we won’t eat anything that will end up defiling us.
Transformation is God’s master plan to change us into becoming more like His Son Jesus. For us to remain in victory, transformation must be pursued. It is a divine mandate upon us so that we can be participants in fulfilling God’s mandate on bringing His kingdom on earth and attracting His will on earth as it is in heaven. To every child of God, there is a divine calling into transformation. This is all in line with God’s goal of making us like Him.
So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls (James 1:21) AMP.
